Course overview
Incoterms allocate costs, risk transfer and liabilities between suppliers and buyers in international sales. These three-letter trade terms clarify responsibilities for moving goods and have implications for letters of credit. The course examines those contractual arrangements within logistics and supply chain operations, including the relationships between risk, cost and service.
Technology changes supply chain operations. Delegates study models and design choices, including blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT/IOT) in import and export activities, with attention to efficiency and transparency in current operating conditions. Supplier-market assessment connects this work to sourcing: supplier tiers, should-cost estimates, requests for information and proposals, and partnership management.
Two days address payment and documentation, covering banking requirements, triangular trade and the commercial documents used to move, insure and control goods. Strategic sourcing then examines value, including benefits beyond cost savings, and the importance of negotiation planning. Spend analysis, total cost modelling and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) support decisions about supplier selection and performance.
