Course overview
Forecasts of product and service demand influence what an organisation buys and when it needs resources. Inventory has a direct place in those decisions. Demand planning aims to make products available on time while avoiding excess stock, and involves allocating human resources and other resources in line with anticipated demand.
The course examines demand within the supply chain and explains the distinction between supply and demand chains. Delegates consider customer needs and expectations alongside forecasting principles, demand planning techniques and lead-time calculations, before looking at methods of managing and reducing inventory. The outline also addresses cost control, cost-effectiveness and lean operations through demand management, with attention to assessing the system's effectiveness and implementing its principles at work.
